  Restaurants New Delhi

Delhi Inn is centrally located and therefore many good Restaurants are nearby. A New York Times review rates the following restaurants:-

1. Karim Restaurant - This restaurant, near the Jama Masjid, remains one of the best places to sample rich, if rather oily, Mughlai food. Try the mutton qormas with romali rotis and seekh kebabs, or, if you are adventurous, the mutton brain, if only to look at it sitting eerily in the middle of the table. Read here

2. Atrium - This is the tea room at the 1930’s Imperial Hotel. Take a seat near the fountain in this most opulent of Raj-era relics and order tea and cakes.  Read here

3. Park Hotel's Fire - This restaurant’s modern pan-Indian food is distinguished mostly by the quality of its ingredients. Dinner is served under artful clusters of bare light bulbs. Read here

4. Swagath - For the classic middle-class Delhi resident’s dinner, head to this restaurant in the typically shabby Defense Colony market complex. Even if the décor is somewhat forgettable, it serves some of the best seafood in landlocked Delhi, and its spicy south Indian Chettinad curries are especially good. Read here

5. Bukhara - Staff at this international culinary flagship are immensely proud of the fact that Bill Clinton apparently chose to stay at the Maurya Sheraton "because of our restaurant," and report that when Putin was in town, he wanted to dine here three times a day. Hardly surprising then, that Restaurant Magazine rated Bukhara as one of the 50 best restaurants (and best Asian restaurant) in the world in 2004. It's a cozy venue, with stone walls and cushion-covered stools at mock log-top tables. In a busy display kitchen where meat and vegetables hang from swordlike kebab spears, chefs slave to produce delicacies from a menu that hasn't changed in over 25 years. The best way to experience Bukhara's internationally celebrated cuisine is to order an assorted kebab platter (there's even one named in Clinton's honor). Follow that up with any of Bukhara's classic lamb (raan) dishes, best savored with thin butter naans. Finish off with a traditional rice-based phirni pudding or one of their amazing kulfis (ice cream). Read here
